Just like any other device, a broadband card can break. There are ways to stay out of trouble of course, but many of them are useless. One piece of technology could simply be too old or used. The bad thing is when you are on that 2 year contract and the card breaks. In many cases, the owners of the contract were forced to keep paying the contract even if they did not use the card anymore.
